Backbone (Official Lyric Video)
Lyric video for "Backbone", from the final release of my JacksorJacksor project - "_SAM".
Video by Matt Creed, who's absolutely smashed it on this one.
Hyperpop-laced musings on the climate emergency and unreality, Backbone is the fifth of the six tracks from the last JacksorJacksor release "_SAM". It's one of my favourite recordings I've ever made and Matt's video is just an absolute wonder.
Words from Matt Creed:
"After listening to Backbone for the first time, I wanted to reflect the song's energy. I always imagined that the visual would be fast-paced and have a sense of momentum throughout.
The design of the visuals started with the cover art of the _SAM EP with its circular design motif and use of colour.
From there, I took inspiration from the lyric “as expected, the world fell apart”, where the visuals are constantly changing, falling apart and in a state of decay."
Lyrics:
The need for direction
The need for a spine
The trunk feeds the future
Breathing out life
The causing of tension
The carrion time
The short-sighted vision
Burns me alive
I heard there is no alternative
A little bird told me that everything’s broken
The safety of asyla
A decorative patchwork of straitjackets
Of course, standing tall
Blueprints drawn on lumbar
Scaffolded, aligned,
Built out of vertebrae
As expected the world fell apart
I heard there is no alternative
A little bird told me that everything’s broken
The safety of asyla
A decorative patchwork of straitjackets
