Reviews
Here are various reviews and press clippings about my work and music. I've written, recorded and performed under the names Albatross Archive, JacksorJacksor, Richard F. Jackson, and, yes, Richard Jackson, so gathering the evidence and telling the internet that it's all me is quite difficult - but here we are.
Events
It was lovely to see a live band, led by musical director, Richard F Jackson. They were a well-drilled band who did not overpower the performers.

JACKSORJACKSOR makes a big-sounding smart pop EP on a budget... the EP combines myriad influences from baroque pop to video game soundtracks, with ample assistance from pals on flute, cello and clarinet, and ably showcases Jackson’s skill for making DIY musical assembly sound like something from a much higher financial bracket.

Cardiff’s jacksorjacksor isn’t afraid to approach multiple genres with tenacity. both Scuttle and Backbone show different things - Scuttle is an unsettling, eerie, time-signature-mess-with-you track and Backbone is hyperpop deluxe (like if Jon Batiste and Charli XCX decided to collaborate) before destroying itself auditorily. Lyrically there is so much to unpack with the music never overshadowing the message, each line landing with intent.

The musical score was fun and included hints towards other famous musical tracks. It all added to a very appropriate atmosphere.
Congratulations to all and MD Richard Jackson and band for the music, sympathetic to the voices throughout.
Opening proceedings were Albatross Archive. Cardiff-based but hailing from London and Frome, the duo consists of vocalist/pianist Richard Jackson and drummer Kit Denison. Jackson’s singing and playing was spot on as per, but it’s Denison’s staccato and arrhythmic delivery that turns good songs into great ones; tonight’s closer Matches was the definite highlight.
Albatross Archive are a Cardiff-based duo with a genuinely unique sound: 'electronic-jazz-indie' works well enough as a rough description, but really, it's the sort of thing you just have to hear for yourself. Things, another EP of theirs, is already part of my library, but that was made when Albatross Archive were a four-piece, and they've taken some pretty giant steps away from the pastoral gentleness of that release since then. Nowadays, they're sounding braver, bolder, and harsher than they sounded before.
